Flo, just thought I’d mention that your knife skills are spot on with everything I learned at my knife class a few weeks ago. Since the class, I’ve been paying closer attention to how people hold their knives and also how they mince and chop. As I mentioned…you, my sweet friend, are totally spot on with these skills. Give yourself a big pat on the back! Jo

I just got my IP 2 weeks ago and I'm SO glad to be able to watch your videos! You make IP cooking look so easy! I've been using a stove top pressure cooker for more than 35 years but haven't been able to use it for about 3 years because I can no longer get the rubber sealing ring/s for it! I've made a whole roast chicken in my IP and then pressure cooked the veggies for about 7 minutes while the bird was resting in my warmed oven. I like most Asian food/dishes,including rice but my husband isn't a rice lover – he will eat a little, though. I'm going to subscribe to your channel and "like" all the videos that I know will be helpful for me & my IP! ^_^ Oh,yes…I wanted to tell you what an absolutely great idea you have/had for taking your IP (and everything else you may need for prepping/cooking) traveling with you!! Traveling is expensive enough if you have to stay in hotels, motels, etc.,but at least you don't have to spend a fortune eating in restaurants, etc.! We did some traveling, many years ago and we would always take a small electric kettle,2 mugs, coffee, sugar, cream, etc., so we could have our morning coffee as soon as we woke up in the morning. If IP's had been "invented" back then,I would have dragged mine along, too (lol). Happy Cooking! 🙂

Awesome recipe for a "electric pressure cooker" owner! I have a different brand "ultra" model, and was wondering how to do beef broccoli, without overcooking the broccoli! Thanks for this amazing simple method!!

Here's a bonus tip from me, that I learned from growing up cooking in a Chinese restaurant: Drop the broccoli in rolling boil hot salt water. Boil the raw broccoli in the salt water, for like 2-3 mins, then dump in cold water and ice cubes until the broccoli cools (a couple mins). Then drain before cooking the broccoli. This makes the broccoli bright green even after you cook it and regardless of how you cook it! I blanch and shock in ice water like this for other bright green veggies that I'll cook, like Chinese string beans, and even spinach.

Thanks again for the recipe idea, and the "zero" time pressure cook trick!

Great recipe. Was that just a glass bowl that the rice was in that you placed on the trivet? Any issue with using a glass bowl in the Instant Pot? Thanks!

Nice dish!  So, I can use any bowl/dish like you did for your rice as long as it's say…microwave safe?  I'm going to make this tonight and maybe add a bit of mushrooms.
    Thanks for sharing!

To cut it short I would like to suggest prechopping everything.
    "Do whatever you want".
I added bowl of rice when I released the steam ….the liquid in bowl came spitting out of the vent hole.
    Was goid! Thanks

Love your tutorials. The only thing I do not like is when you use corn starch. The flour is more healthy. Corn is modified and is the worst in cooking. You should definitely stop using it. Of course it's my suggestion. Besides, I love your cooking :-))

Even tho many, if no most, of your recipes are simple & straightforward, if there isn't a written recipe I tend to forget them by the time I'm ready to prepare/cook. I generally watch several of your videos at a sitting – cooking is done, in my home, in a separate room at a different time. Would really appreciate downloadable recipes. BTW – brocolli beef is my husbands most favorite asian dish (we order out), so would be great to make this for him. Yes – I'm going back and writing down your instructions. Thanks!

Instead of a cornstarch slurry my mother would take some flour and put it in a jar with some water and shake until the flower was wet, then she would put it in the roast drippings and cook until the flour taste is gone. I don't know why since she was Cajun that she did not make a roux. I keep instant potato flakes in the cupboard that I also use at times as a thickening agent but nothing tastes as good as moms! My favorite Chinese takeout is beef and broccoli. I am so glad you made this video and I cannot wait to try it!
