Definitely agree about dried beans vs canned. They taste better, less money, not swimming in a salty brine and weigh less in your grocery bag/ backpack; if say you don't own a car and have to walk or take public transportation to the store and back. Depending on what I need to buy I walk either a mile or five miles round trip when I go grocery shopping/ exercise done. Soup sounds good and I bet some apple wood smoked dulse would make it even better. Bought the brand Maine Coast Sea vegetables once on Amazon and was surprised from the bacon like umami flavor it added to soups or sauteed greens like kale or spinach. Learned about it while watching Alton Brown channel on YouTube. When he had added some dulse flakes to a mac and cheese.

Sounds good. Reminds me of Alton Brown's favorite winter vegetable soup. His recipe, however, had white northern beans, butternut squash, crimini mushrooms, and canned tomatoes. I've tried it, it is pretty good.
