Made this yesterday from her recipe called Parkers Split Pea Soup. Very easy, very good. Used 4 cups of chicken stock, 4 cups of water, and two cups of veg stock which I had on hand. A few extra carrots and potatoes and Italian seasoning instead of plain oregano.

Do you not have access to scales. Poor thing cups and sticks whatever next? Perhaps a bottle of lard pr a box of milk. Do you never convert to European or even world measurements? Don't suppose so even your paper won't fit a copier outside Americae!@ Never mind shall search recipies with proper measurements like grams and litres.

4-5 liters of water, 500 grams of green split peas, one (or two) 400 grams cans of canned pork shoulder ham (or whole pork shoulder you have cooked in advance and use the cook water), 50 grams of good butter or premium lard, salt, pepper. Boil on low fire till peas are dissolved totally (2-3 hours) and stir occasionally. Add some croutons while serving. If you invier friends to this meal soup, adjust quantieties of everything . Last I prepared was for 29 convives. See to it you have enough beer. Warning: peas may cause strongly aromatised gas emissions. (Light your cig outside).

The split peas boil quicker if soaked overnight plus you should have probably washed the peas a couple of times in running water before adding it directly to the cooking pot.

Tastes better with ham in it. The salt in the ham usually seasons the entire pot. Let it sit a day to allow the flavors blend Tastes even better.
