    That's not Achiote it's "Palillo" – curcuma longa. My maternal family is from the Amazonian part of Peru – Tarapoto, so I usually eat this root often in many dishes. That breakfast was a Juane, and they used "Bijao leaf" not "plantain", it is from Calathea lutea plant, many Latin American countries use this leaf for cooking.
