Chicken scarpariello, the Italian-American dish of chicken braised with sausage and peppers in a sweet and sour sauce is one of those perfect Tuesday night …
We can't get picked cherry peppers in NZ, what can I substitute?
Im gonna be honest, I only liked this video because of the LOTR reference. As in thumbs up. The video was great, by all means, but I dont like every video that I like (;)).
No potatoes? That’s the recipe I was looking for. But this looks good anyway.
Thumbs up for Tolkien Taters 🙂
👎 Scarpariello with chicken?? 😂 you are crazy! 👎
I’ve made this recipe several times and would recommend leaving the pickling liquid from the peppers OUT. The first three times I made this made everyone’s nose run and tear up. It was still good though just spiked with more pain than someone expects at dinner.
DELICIOUS with mashed potatoes!!!
I like and respect you, but the amount of Americans with absolutely no sense of taste that are ready to upvote everything you do is nauseating. This, like many things that are 'Italian American' are actually 'Italian' in origin and the deviations from actual food science relative to the dish are unacceptable. I know that you adjust your recipes for your ridiculously large american audience, but please attempt to educate a little. Using recipes from some 5th generation american italian that has been living in Jersey so long they wouldn't know north Italy from south italy anymore that the Sopranos is horrible. Italians actually still cook, the same way they did 3 centuries ago, and the food is still amazing. Also, amerian ingredients are horrible, full stop. You know it, I know it.
Nice recipe with the added wine. Potato Gnocchi would be a natural addition.
Made this today, the pickeled cherry peppers made the dish so spicy i think the peppers i bought were super spicy. Maybe go for less peppers anyone planning to make this.
Love this recipe. Make America Cook Again J. Kenji.
Wow!!! 😍😍😍
This turned out amazing! I'd say go with hot Italian sausage to give it some heat since the sweet peppers aren't spicy at all. Great recipe!
Looks delicious! I probably would stir in a roux to thicken the sauce—not personally a fan of it being watery.
By far my favorite recipe I've learned from Serious Eats. The sauce is to die for!
If I wanted to add potatoes at which point does it go in? Do I have to parboil them first?
No need for taters in that bowl – go full Italian and have a small serving of risotto as your first plate, then have the meat and veggies as second plate. 😀
Thumbs up for the Lord of the Rings reference!
Boil em, mash em, stick em in a stew…
How dare you tease us plebs with your Control Freak
You mentioned 20 mins stovetop and 30 mins in the oven, but in the end it was 45. But I know to cook the chicken til it's done, just an editing gaff I think?
looks delicious! unfortunatly I can´t get italian sausage in germany .. are they any different from regular sausage?
What's taters, precious?
Looks delicious, also really well edited and with a subtle LOTR reference to boot!
3:19 New ringtone!
