Anyone have a Vox AC30S1 regarding what is said at 49:30 ? Ironically I have an AC10 which I like a lot so it sounds like I'd be happy with the AC30S1 regardless.
Love all your videos. Super informative. I was wondering if you have had any experience with a Fender prosonic? Just wondering your opinion. Keep doing what your doing and love your stuff.
Hello there. Howard Black. Euclid ohio
Those prs hdrx 20s are intriguing, but something about the jump from $799 to $2990 for the 50 watt version is sort of troubling…
Hi Lyle. Someone sent me a link to your latest live chat, suggesting I listen. Thank you Lyle, for those lovely comments on my playing. Listening to your words has left me smiling from ear to ear, so thank you! Genuinely appreciated🍻👍
My last resistor purchase was a 1000 pieces of every value, and another 1000-2000 pieces of the more common values. Go work on some test equipment. That test equipment stuff is chock full of oddball resistor values that are custom values like 14200 ohms +/- 0.5 % or less. I tried to make an ohm meter for a piece of gear I made that measures current and voltage. Ugh! My readings were usually barely within +/- 6% or 7% and as bad as being off by over 10%. Totally unacceptable especially when my volt & ammeters were doing < +/- 2% and I can plug in a Fluke bench meter and get +/- <0.05% with a four lead Kelvin lead setup or +/- 1% with a handheld Fluke. That resistance is my bias resistor. My bench fees go way up for test equipment with cal certs.
Dope up the 10 inch Sica Jensens. There is some white latex glue that dries to a clear gummy rubbery texture. That is speaker dope. I am not a big fan of the Italian Jensen speakers.
Hi, Lyle, nice conversation tonight as always. Wanted to thank you for all the advice you give on your channel, you helped this 50-something so much with purchasing his first “real, big boy” amp, replacing an all-I-could-afford, didn’t-know-better Fender Frontman. Since this might be The Amp They Find Me With I wanted it to be great and last a good long while and your sharing information about shoddy construction and design prevented me from buying another disappointment. I didn’t end up able to try all the amps on my short list but I found one which made my heart skip, the Magnatone Super Fifteen. I actually was expecting to cross it off my list, I don’t like black amps and it doesn’t have reverb or tremolo, but that first chord doomed me. Now I just have to learn all its secrets! (If you have any wisdom beyond “turn all the knobs and experiment” I’m all ears!) Anyway, thanks again for all the education.
The emi 1028 10" alnico 35w really sounds good in single ended amps, and compared to the more expensive Allessandro 20w 10" alnico, it had more headroom and does the high end smooth breakup thing. The GA breaks up a lot in the low end which is a sound, but can be achieved by shunting a tone stack. If that helps anyone subjectively….
I'm recapping, cleaning and changing out some resistors on my 67 BF Super Reverb while watching this. It has the original CTS 10" Alnicos which are amazing. The 1028P or 1028Ks are the Eminence Alnicos which many run in the SR. The 1028P is paper former, and is special order. They sound a bit nicer than the 1028K but its close. 90s Fender Blues Devilles, Bassman Reissues, Super Amps came with the "blue frame" 1028Ps in them. Great speaker. Appreciate all of your advice and tips Lyle.
So sorry I missed this! Glad for the replay!
Hey Lyle, so cool to see you, and listen to all Your tips and help you give to all us newbies on electronics..! Thank you..Ed..UK..😀
Am I crazy but my HAM radio training is kinda teaching me lots of technical details about guitar amplifiers?
