Are you going to come back???
I love watching you cook!
I tried to buy the Sate Seasoning on amazon and it was not there. Can you give an alternative? Thanks!! Love your videos and recipes!
Thanks
I bought the Sate seasoning from Amazon. It was almost 20 bux. Hope it’s really good! 😊

no need for sugar..In the spice mix. sugar is something I'm trying to seriously avoid
So I just tried making this this evening. The soup turned out way too mushy for my and the families liking. Ended up throwing it out. Almost a baby food consistency. The lentils lost all of their wonderful texture and turned into a monotonous mush. Half the potatoes remained somewhat whole, the remainder turned to a mashed potato consistency. Not much flavor. Definitely needed more flavoring plus some simple salt and pepper. Could have used some sautéed onion at the beginning as well.
Hi Jill, thank you for sharing this recipe. Can you use chopped sweet potatoes in lieu of white, or red, or russet potatoes for this recipe?
I would like to get copies of the lentil soup with sweet potatoes or other recipes with lentils.
Looks delish. Gonna buy some of that Sate 🙂
Looks so good. Gonna make this tonight and try that samosa idea too!!
this is lovely. thank you!
Sate seasoning is so good!! I am making this now at 11 pm at night so I have something for my next two nights working as a RN. I will take extra for my peeps to try. Thanks for the recipe. Ok editing this because I just tasted this and got inspired since I used sweet potatoes instead and decided to add thai basil garlic curry paste. This came out so good. Yummmmmm.
GOT RED AND GREEN LENTILS, BUT NEVER COOKED 'EM… NOW, I'LL DO IT…!!!…
so yummy 🙂
It is samosaas😄
In India it’s called Dall, cooked bit spicy by adding sambar powder, amchoor, and Season it with bit of mustard seeds, cumin seeds, red chili’s,in hot oil till they are fried a bit. Adding curry leaves in that oil at the end gives nice flavor. All you can get from any Indian store. They eat with rice or tortillas / roti
No. I was really hoping you had one. CRAP!!
Jill, have you ever cooked Mung split beans in the Instant Pot?
Looks tasty, thank you for the recipe! Do you think frozen spinach would do alright? New to the instant pot. Thank you. 🙂
This looks delicious, but the picture shows some balls that I didn’t notice in your recipe in the video. What are they made of, & when do you add them to this lentil soup?
I would be so grateful if you could come up with a potato, peas, and spinach samosa that has no fat and is gluten-free!
While I'm ordering from Penzey's, anything else I should get?
Can hardly wait to make this. Probably will double to try next day too. Suggestions on spice blend if no penzy?
That lentil soup look so damn good! 👍
What are the meatball looking things in the soup? I am going to make this very soon like tomorrow
I saw the video yesterday but didn't have time to comment….I always add potatoes to my lentil soup (red, green, brown lentils…makes no difference) and then puree, maybe a third….i like my soup, soupy but not runny….and yes, it's funny how it thickens up like a blob…like split pea soup does…?? I like your new adjustment to the older recipe…..You keep going, Jill!!
Wow…you’ve come a long way with your videos….this is great! Thanks…I’m traveling…but when I get home in a few days to an empty kitchen, I’m going to pick up what I need at Trader Joe’s and get this going in my iPot.
looking so good
That looks good and hearty! We’ve tried this one, out of your book, before….I love red lentils so, I’ll try your updated version, too.
Jill you look so beautiful in this video I love your hair you look great in purple
now i know what to do with the big bag of lentils thats just been sitting in my fridge for a month 😀
Love your suff…. Love my IP
I do something like this with pea soup so the lentil soup should be great too. I bought some Ezekiel tortillas the other day so now I get to try them. Thanks, Max… and Jill
It's ga LANG gal, and SAH tay.
Love your videos, thanks for what you do! 💚🌱
I do not have sate, but i have everything else under the sun in my spice cupboard. Do you know any spice blends I can use with the same ingredients to take place of the sate?
Looks good, I'll try it in my crockpot
It’s gaLANgal! And here’s a video from Pai of Hot Thai Kitchen explaining everything you need to know about it!

This is a GREAT yet easy recipe. I did not use the sate seasoning ( it is Indonesian, pronounced saahtay, like sashay but saahtay.) so, i had taco seasoning, OMG good, genius, Jill, genius! Thank you.
I can't wait to get an instant pot! I don't have one, yet, but I'm still going to make this recipe on my stove! 😉
Thank you Jill for the video, the recipe, and the close up on the Sate ingredients. I wasn't too crazy about the Kirkland's salt free seasoning. Hopefully I will enjoy Sate. If you could show us the next day Max's toasted fold over that would be awesome!!!
Yum.
