I find being frugal as a challenge … like finding a really good deal on a clothing item that is on sale and marked down to a fraction of the original cost.
Thanks for your tips … and for letting me share mine.

Another tip: I use the water from instant pot boiled eggs to water my plants. I also wash my produce when I get home from the store and use that to water my plants. I hate to cook inside in the summertime, so I multi-cook meals for the week. I make my own almond/coconut milk with a 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla. It is so good and don't have to sweeten. I pour squeezed lemon juice into ice trays and freeze to flavor my water. Add water to ginger slices and freeze in ice trays for flavoring water, too.

I've just made my own pickled beets. Found the recipe online that uses garlic, rosemary, cloves to flavor instead of sugar. It is a refrigerator version which is perfect because I love them and include in my daily salad, or with my boiled eggs. Must sit in fridge for at least 3 hours before eating so have not tried yet.

Microfiber cloths are really bad for the environment as the fibres come off in the wash or in your case as well, the sink drain and get into the water system.

Dehydrating food makes them last longer without the freezer or fridge.

A bidet says on toilet paper, especially if you dry with reusable toilet paper.

You can use reusable wipes made from material.

I saw one idea about writing down the regular shopping you buy with the cheapest price and and shop name, to tract the cheapest place to by your shopping. So when there's a sale you know if it's cheap to bulk buy.

Reusable pads and cups saves money and the environment.

Leather products last a lot longer and save in the long run.

This may seem counter productive but I bought a new fridge and freezer because they use a LOT less power to run and will save money in the long term. You also don't have to defrost them.

I waited 1 month to replace my blender before purchasing it and saved a lot before purchasing it because it was very expensive due to every ability it has and it's higher quality. It's lasted me much longer than the other ones I've purchased in the past.

I started making my own foaming pump soap it costs about 25 cents a container I just reuse my BBW containers that I saved and do a big batch at a time… my husband loves this idea and saves about 3.00 or more a bottle by making your own.

I don't know why but every dishwasher that I had was not very good at cleaning dishes. I always had to redo them, I swear to you it didn't matter which kind of detergent I use. I used mine mostly to hide dishes until I could get to them. But that was ten years ago so the new dishwashers may be better and more efficient. There's just two people in my household so I wash my dishes by hand.

For me I started using less dishes. When cooking don’t keep taking new dishes out try using what you already took out , as long as you’re not cross contaminating. I usually have to wash less dishes less often.

I don’t buy trash bags. I use my plastic grocery bags instead. I stopped buying bottled water. We now have a Britta water filter. My kids were wasting the bottled water and we were buying it constantly. I just bought wool dryer balls to soften clothes in the dryer and they seem to be working. Just a few ideas!

I was born in the 50’s and I try to live like when I was a child. No plastic garbage bagels… line with old newspaper… no paper towels… use rags for cleaning… hang clothes on the line weather permitting. All of those save money and my family is grown so it’s just me

For your smoothies, find an old-fashioned potato masher (usually 2nd hand shops for about a quarter). Let your frozen fruit begin to thaw then take out some frustrations as you mash it to smoothie thickness. 😀

Just had to replace my magic bullet that finally quit after many good years of use. I decided to buy a regular blender because it has a larger capacity and ended up spending half the money. It works just fine. I just found a good dish cloth. It is made of coconut husks and cleans well and lasts a really long time. Thanks for all the great ideas.

An electric kettle is much, much faster to boil water than on the stove top. Your diet doesn't sound very healthy. I couldnt live without my smoothie maker as I use 4/5 times per week. It is about $20 compared to a blender which runs more than $80.

If you have to defrost your fridge,a hairdryer will melt the ice. I lived somewhere where she did that. It works.
If you live in Canada, the hairdryer will melt the ice from under the front door. Sharen

Hello. I dilute liquid Dawn to wash dishes…..and then diluted it again….man that stuff is so concentrated and still got sudsy! I also fast interminttently (sp?)
which has completed changed my food consumption. I only eat when I feel genuine humger pains and/or had a BM. Sorry TMI? But it works! I am growing a very humble garden and the amount of food I am producing for 1 person is fabulous. Why have we gotten away from tnis humble frugal quiet lifestyle? I so enjoy being home, alone.

My biggest money-savers have been: Making my own personal care and cleaning products (including deodorant and laundry soap), giving up meat and leather products, and [nearly] giving up all single-use paper products. I still use paper towels to grease my baking pans and to drain fish after I've rinsed it. I keep a handy basketful of homemade flannel kitchen wipes on the counter, and I use homemade flannel bathroom wipes when I empty my bladder — I do, however, still use toilet paper for more extensive cleanups. These changes were initiated for environmental reasons, and it was quite a surprise to discover such a huge financial benefit. I use the leftover cash to pay down my mortgage early, and my house should be paid off in another three years.

also knowing you need a different blender gives you time to keep an eye out for a good/cheep used one. Ask friends and family sometimes they have one use can use or have. at my local thrift shop they choose to give away small appliances and I would wait untill I find one free or less than 5$🤷 I have room to store things so if I see something I use a lot I Keep a backup for when it eventually breaks or for a family member. Not a minimalist but minimalist curious🙂

I recycle clothes, towels. I grow my food, chickens and eggs. I freeze and preserve. I buy when things are on sale and put in the pantry or freeze or can them. I hydrated peppers and onions, mushrooms. I can butter when it's on a good sale and I'm learning to make ghee cream cheese and butter both freeze for a long time. I love italian pasta. So I buy it on sale. Roasts are amazing when canned. So many uses. Canned pork the same. It's good and it doesn't take any time to cook up. I like to make my own seasonings. I love to thrift. I'm blessed with great stores. My favorite sweater was a Lord's and taylor, silk and casmiere for $5.Ive used vinegar and baking soda for all kinds of cleaning. We really can live frugally and it a challenge and fun.

My latest frugal tip: 5 pound bag of potatoes on sale for $1. Case sale at grocery store – 3 cans of meat chili w/beans for $1. One pound of cheddar cheese for $1.29. I bake half dozen of the potatoes, put one third of a can of chili heated up on top, then sprinkle a bit of grated sharp cheddar on top. It is a very filling meal for less than a dollar. 🤑
