My tip to add would be to ALWAYS check the status of that sealing ring before putting the lid on, making sure it's really seated – it can droop out of position if you're not careful and prevent a good seal. You know it is happening when steam starts to rise around the entire perimeter of the lid. Extra tip: don't let this happen to you right when you're showing skeptical friends how great the Instant Pot is at doing Thanksgiving mashed potatoes.

(Also, why does that little music go at half speed sometimes when putting the lid on or taking it off?)

Maybe you already have but if not could you do a video on how to adjust full size instant pot recipes to work in the mini. I don't know if it is as simple as cutting in half or if other adjustments need to be made. Love your channel!!!

Great video until you told me to rock my nob backward and forwards etc (8:15) and when my wife asked me what I was doing I told I was relieving the pressure. What actually happened was my laptop and my IP2 ended up in the bin, my wife has left me and I get out of hospital n Friday. Any more tips???

Here is my tip. Make sure to wash your sealing ring every time to help eliminate smells. Then put the sealing ring in the freezer. The freezer also helps with the smells but also keeps the ring from getting too stretched out. Something to go along with this is keep one ring for savory dishes and one for sweet dishes.

You don't need ultrafiltered milk to make yogurt in the instant pot. I've used regular milk and powdered milk and have had no problem. I use a Bulgarian started and my yogurt is thick and creamy

I guess sound off is my favorite but I did learn about it before watching your wonderful video. My one dog was really bothered by the beeping sounds. Wherever he was in the house he walked to the door giving me an odd look and was hesitant to come back inside. I had to get rid of an electric kitchen timer for the same reason.

I have been using sauté to heat up the pot as I figured it might make it faster, but never thought of using hot liquids!

Didn’t realize there were varying temperatures of sauté

Great to know you can use a hand blender to shred meats quickly!

Thanks, great video! Only comment I have is I am not sure why you switch back and forth (quite frequently) from frontal view to side view. I think it’s very odd when it’s a side shot of you speaking that you weren’t looking or talking to your audience. I figure it must be that you have two cameras running at the same time and you’re trying to make it more “artsy” by using shots from both.

I found it too distracting that it would switch every few seconds and you would be talking to us one moment, then the next you were talking to “others”! 😬

Don’t use hot tap water for cooking. Hot tap water contains much more contaminants than cold tap water. Now, most of the time it won’t lead to a serious issue. However, in houses with older plumbing, you can pick up lead in hot water.

Just don’t do it. Use the microwave to warm cold tap water.

my fave tip would be how to get the lid on quicker by matching the back end of lid to the cutout on the pot. I can never get the lid on the first time by trying to match the lock and unlock symbol in the front of my Ultra 60.
