This is the first video of yours I've watched, and from my experience cooking stir-fries in woks, you've done a fantastic job. Purists might frown at the idea of cooking meat without marinating, but chicken breast absorbs flavor so well that it's not a big deal. Chinese chefs absolutely season in every step with salt, although usually with fine grain salt so that everything has the same salt level and you don't end up with big crystals of salt. Depending on the dish and cuisine, some chefs also season with sugar or MSG on the way.
Also totally agree on the wok vegetable take. Some sliced carrots cooked in a searing hot wok and seasoned with a little bit of soy sauce? That'll the best carrots you ever have. Liked and subbed!

weeknighting meal I had tonight. I call it the BLT Salad. start with a half pound of bacon, I slice it into "Squares" so they come out around cheez it sized. once it's browned FULLY, separate all that yummy bacon fat, mix it equal parts with olive oil, an egg yolk, bit of mustard, salt pepper, and make some delicious BACONAISE! some like to blend up some of the bacon into a crumb, and mix that in. sure, but it clogs up a squeeeezr bottle. set the baconiase aside. all you have to do after that, is toast some bread. for a full pound of bacon, about 6 larger slices works. toast some in the pan to soak up all the bacon fond, and some in the toaster to make it faster. cut into the same cheez-it size squares. chop up 12 oz or so of tomatoes, and a head of romaine. dump about a cup of the baconaise over the bowl, and toss to combine, and your'e done. BLT Salad. it really does hit those BLT notes, but by my estimate ended up costing about 1.50 per large serving. [we all had two servings, but still…less than 10 bucks to feed 3 hungry adults? AND have it take less than 30 minutes? AND have it be a somewhat healthy salad AAND it tastes friggin' GOOD!? I hope you give this a try soon! And as alwaaaaays, eeeenjoooy! [heehee.]

Loved this video! I love digging into crazy complex cooking videos on weekends but these type of down-to-earth weeknight videos are the majority of our meals. These kind of videos are really inspiring to my tired, burnt-out self on random Thursdays when I dont know what to cook. They help me get off the couch (when I am insistent that yes, cheese crackers ARE a perfectly reasonable dinner) and get into the kitchen to use the veggies we have to make a good, tasty, nutritious meal.

Brian, I love your channel but this is not your thing bro. The cooking show format doesn’t work. It didn’t work with Ethan and it doesn’t work here. You need to cook, edit, and narrate. That’s your wheelhouse.

Love this format! Pleeeease make Mongolian beef live! I always make cooking with lau version. But I would love to see your take. Live versions are fun and saves you editing lol! I don't know if I could make this because I don't have a wok and I have a glass top stove. I have no room in my kitchen for an extra appliance😂 But I'll try to find some different way to make this. It looks absolutely scrumptious and your weeknight series is absolutely my favorite!

For the next…forever lol. I have a fear of running out of garlic. I have so much of it. My garlic game is extra sccrrrronngg!

They use minimal salt if using salty prods like soy, etc.

I really appreciate that you make meals for 2, so many videos and recipes are scaled for 6-8 people and require me guessing on spices, amounts etc. I thoroughly enjoy your baking and also stepping outside of your niche to give me something new to try.

As a home cook, I am always attempting to “weeknight” more efficiently without all the know-how of a professional chef. Especially for your weeknighting series I appreciate this style video so much. Also Lorn tossing out some questions to throw you off-guard added extra flare of realism. For your other informational videos with techniques and recipes, I prefer your usual style. Loved it and also enjoyed seeing Lorn in the video!
