The jalapeño crisps from DT are so good. I add them to salads and soups for a bit of crunch and heat. I live 4 hours from family so I just stayed home. I made lentil loaf ( so good leftover in a sammy like traditional meat loaf, IMO)

Sugar, salt😳😱 preservatives! Fresh is best and often cheaper. Eggs and good fats are a top priority on my shopping list. I eat very little meat, but if I do I eat only a very small portion and good quality. I rarely eat cake, but if I do I often make from scratch and use little sugar. Fiber is key…..I also grind my own grains and punch it up with extra eggs, nuts, fruit and protein powder, butter, butter milk yogurt. I freeze individual portions. I make a very light frosting with butter, yogurt, and only 1/4 of the sugar. It’s very thin. Or I make a fresh or frozen berry sauce in blender and pour over individual serving. So good!
Canned potatoes really 😳look at canned cheese , bouillon, meat ……🙃 canned frosting……omg.
I’m an old lady that’s had a lot of kids and a very small budget for many years. I learned to cook from scratch with very little meat. When 25 years ago, my food budget was more than a fancy house payment I started batch cooking and freezing meals. One dinner for family and 2-3 for the freezer. I often feed a lot more people than my family of six. I started teaching large batch meal prep, and eating healthy classes, with an emphasis on cooking from scratch and fresh food.
Creating meals from the dollar store once in awhile is ok. During my classes I showed that by buying fresh foods, often can be cheaper and safe your health from heart disease, high blood pressure, kidney damage, diabetes……. I see where you are going with your videos, but I believe your talents in inspiring people to try new recipes with a tight budget ….could incorporate fresher healthier foods and still be budget friendly. 🌸❤️

Happy Easter! We did the same this year, and just had whatever for dinner. I had a very small beef roast, so made that, and then my son prefers chicken, so made hot chicken with honey. We just had noodles and salad on the side. My grandkids were all with other family, but got lots of pictures!

Love the milk too! I keep powdered milk in my pantry though for emergency cooking because my child keeps drinking my dollar tree milk! I took advantage of a BIG spiral ham sale (22.00) so we had ham, green beans, baked potato and home made hot cross buns for dessert. I have enough ham to stock my freezer for the next 6 months. I will slice half of it, seal it and then chop into two types of chunks, small and medium and seal those. I love having chunks of ham to munch on or make into ham salad for crackers or sandwiches. If beef prices keep going up it will be nice to have it around.

It’s so kind of you to invite your friends who are alone at Easter. I live in a different Country than my whole family and I’m alone for all the holidays. Travelling to be with family is too expensive for me. And as much as I know some nice people and have some friends, where I live people don’t tend to invite others and they spend their holidays with their families only. It gets lonely to be alone all the time. What you do for others is priceless.

I come from a time when you could get a REAL canned ham from Denmark, not a composite of various pieces or ground up loaf for 99 cents, eve sold in some five and dimes. Those cans you open with a key are SHARP, my cousin almost amputated his thumb with one, maybe warn people. I love to see what you can cook up with so little $$$… I am frugal too, always looking for a good buy, but luckily where I live I have access to Amish stores that stock low cost close to expiration food.

I have used the Luncheon loaf LOTS. It is great for just 2-3 people. Every time I go to Dollar Tree I pick up the shelf stable milk. I too love scrapple. I have not made it yet but I do have the recipe. We have a meat market near us that sells scrapple.

My parents moved away and my son is with his dad so I decided to put together a pantry meal for myself. I didn't have to spend extra because I had everything. I'm having ham from my freezer, roasted potatoes, corn. I made an apple dump cake for dessert. My heart hurts but I'm being kind to myself. I even have a little wine. God bless ya'll. Let's celebrate Resurrection Day.

Bravo LD, really creative! Apologies if repetitive, I use canned potatoes often and if not putting into a soup I find throwing them into a colander and giving them a quick rinse and drain makes for a better finished dish, less salty. That shelf stable milk is so great, just purchased the almond this week. Thank you for another great video and Hope you are enjoying a blessed Easter! 💞🌸🌺🙏

My dollar tree freezer/fridge section is more sparse these days too. One new thing I found tho is frozen bacon. You get 4 slices in the pack. I live alone so it's the perfect amount for me (and my dog lol)
