I have almost everything at hand to try this recipe except for the egg white protein powder. Do you think I can fully whip the egg white from a jumbo egg and use that as a substitute? Thanks for the excellent and creative work you do.

A trick I learned for regularly breaded onion rings is a bit finicky, but it may help with getting the breading to stick better to the onion rings.
Once the onion is sliced and separated into rings, the inner circumference of the ring has a thin membrane. In regular breaded onion rings, this membrane is the reason the interior onion itself tends to slide out of the breading when bit into. When it is removed by either rubbing with a paper towel along the interior of the ring or with a pair of tweezers before dipping in egg wash and breading, the breading adheres to the cooked onion better.
I don't know if removing the membrane would help with getting the protein breading to adhere better. But, other than the time it would take to remove the membrane, it couldn't hurt to try, nu?

This breading recipe is a home run! I used it the other night to make a blooming onion…my son and I could not stop eating it. It took a bit because the root is attached with the blooming
onion, but the result was delicious. I did it in the air fryer.❤God Bless.

CANNOT WAIT to try this one! Tried several batches of chicken with "Kickin' Chickin' finger lickin' " seasoning – so, so, amazing! Helpful onion tip – I learned long ago to keep one in the fridge for short term storage. The cold keeps the chemicals in the cells from releasing into the air when you slice – no more tears – really! (Short freezer time just before slicing works ok, too)
Ok, Nili, now you're simply making me think crazy thoughts… what about my hubby's old favorite, mozzarella sticks?! Think we can do it?🤔😋🥰

Love this recipe!!! Deep fried zucchini and yellow squash for a side dish. It was great! Didn't have to use egg wash… the breading stuck to the wetness of the vegetables without it. Delicious!! I have also done the chicken strips and can't wait to do the onion rings and fish!! Thank you so much for all your testing and recipes!!

I tried with fish, red snapper and fried in deep fryer at 375 F in beef tallow and my breading didn’t brown until my fish was way over cooked. Maybe temperature you fry is much higher in pan?
