    Firstly a belated happy birthday! 🎉🎉🎉

    I also don't make ketones. Not on keto, and only slightly better on ketovore. I have to fast.
    My best numbers are after a 72 hr. I get higher number on a sardine fast. Also 72 hrs. Bit only 1.1. As soon as I break the fast, I hit the low 0 .2, 3, 4's

    Incredibly frustrating. But I know I have IR. And am not metabolically flexible yet even after 4 months strict ketovore and lo carb all of last year.
    Eating any veg kicks me out of ketosis as well as high protein. Which is basically all I eat.
    Interested in you further experimentation

    You've been consuming more carbs than normal (more than 20 total) & may not be fat adapted in order to do a successful fast. Wishing you many successes!

    I tried a Sardine Challenge. You could eat as much Sardines as you want and black coffee, tea, and salted water. This was for 3 days. My first reading on day 3 was 5.4 and about noon, it was around 6.3, I think. I get the sardines from Costco and they are called Season Brand Sardines in 100% Olive Oil. They are skinless and taste pretty much like tuna fish.

    My ketones don’t go up until third day of fasting. Going for a long walk (2-3h) and sleeping as much as I need helps a ton. I noticed that I don’t even need to fast. Being in calorie deficit or having just bone broth works just as well. My GKI can go below 1 this way! Check Tim Ferris and his advice on how to get into ketosis faster.

    If you are fat adapted, your body may be using the ketones you produce, so you may not see higher levels. Also make sure that you are fasting during the correct part of your menstrual cycle. Dr Mindy Pelz has a recently published book, "Fast Like A Girl," which has great information.

    Happy Birthday Nili! I hope you get to eat something soon on your birthday. I just can’t even begin to think about fasting 24 hours. The only time I had higher ketones was with the lower protein higher fat like dr boz talks about when Amy was doing it. We all got so excited about higher ketones. It was fun to see them high but I don’t feel it made a difference for me. 🥰🎉🎊♥️😘🍰

    Hello dear.. I want to say that my ketones act just like yours and it can be frustrating. I mean for weeks go buy and still a very low keto level…I just don't care anymore because it's too frustrating it's like getting on the scale and that's the devil to😂.. so I understand your frustration..

    I swear you are my keto body twin lol. My ketones run the same I’ve been keto 6 years So I just keep going and tell myself mine are lower because my body is efficient at using them lol I used the continuous glucose monitor for awhile and that helped me so much figure out why I was getting headaches! My BS was dropping after I ate!!!Thank you for sharing!
