If you process your butter into ghee, it's technically no longer "dairy". It's 100% fat with no dairy solids. It's easy to do.

I've been staying pretty close to my macros all week since I got back on the wagon and I feel great. Went a little over today because I made the cookies yesterday. 🙄 But it's good enuf. Tomorrow I will eat turkey and my own turnip dish instead of potatoes and whatever else they have that is least carby. And then my cookies! 😀 And that will be that.

I love how you're handling this. I hate feeling restricted too. So important not to have food in the house that I "shouldn't" eat.

Bless you and your sweet, magical disappearing kittie!
    😘😸☺️

I’m a abstainer for sure. Been on keto 6 months and I’m so afraid if I have sugar I will have the cravings back. Hopefully I can be a moderator at some point. I’m cooking and it’s all keto. Happy Thanksgiving. 🦃

I’m hosting and I’m not cooking two meals because I’m the only one on keto. I won’t be eating potatoes, corn, or bread of any kind but just veggies. I’ll have some ham because the family doesn’t like turkey. The only thing I may have off plan is dessert but a small portion unless I get myself up early to make a keto dessert. I have control over what I eat and have no issues getting back on track the next day. Happy Thanksgiving!

I feel like your plan is very healthy all the way around 🤗. I too am going to have some off plan bites… my son is bringing some food that he wants to share & I am going to love having a small portion. I have included/most items are keto & I even made a sugar free PSMF pie 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. So excited for my favorite holiday 🍁🦃🍁🦃 Happy Thanksgiving to you & yours ♥️

I was an abstainer for the first few years of my keto journey but as time has gone by and I've gotten stronger I can moderate. I am cooking all of the things my family enjoys and I am going to enjoy it right along with them. Then on Friday I am right back on track.

I enjoy your wellness Wednesday videos so much. Thank you for “musing” out loud and sharing your thoughts.

I don’t think agree about being strictly a moderator OR an abstainer either. I can moderate most sweets (okay… keto sweets), I might eat some treats some weeks and then not have any for weeks at a time. But I recently realized that, at this point in my journey, I CANNOT moderate French fries, chips or artisanal wheat breads. I cannot let them in my house or on my plate.

    Maybe someday things will change.

Oh my gosh I love this!! All of it. I am the same way! I am OK with having a LITTLE sugar for holidays/special occasions. (Shocked gasps) I am NOT ok with wheat in any way shape or form! I too am both a moderator and an abstainer. (Fainting ensues) There’s so much more to it than that. I believe you can be both, depending on where you are in your journey. Just, yes to all of it! 🥰🍁🍽🦃 Have a very HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

In my case though I definitely should be eating differently, I still eat the way I always have though my metabolism at this age has come to a screeching halt compared to what it was when I was in my 20's. No fun weighing 300 lbs.! I do omit the salt from nearly everything I make and always have done and recently been minimizing my sugar to try to avoid diabetes. Making one of those 2 3/4 lbs. turkey breast roasts with the usual stuffing, green bean casserole, canned potatoes, jarred gravy, bread, and one of a mini apple pie. Only me and my brother. I also ordinarily go through gallons of diet soda and tons of chips. Not the healthiest diet I know, but I am working on it as time goes by! Thanks for your videos and they are an inspiration to me to try to do better, certainly with sweets and salt! Best wishes to all of you and your pets and I hope your day goes super well tomorrow!!!!

I know what you mean by wanting something you can’t have sometimes and you still lost a pound after eating it. Bcuz the same thing is happening to me. I be thinking that I’m straying from my carnivore diet, especially since this new Ninja ice cream maker came out and I been having my jollies with it. But I’m definitely not gaining weight and loses a pound hear and there. I think having what you can’t have sometimes is alright just as long as the carbs are kept low.

This was encouraging! I am hopeful that I will be a "moderator" in the near future. However, while I'm working on healing a rogue thyroid and following Dr. Gottfried's protocol (keto-ish), I will be abstaining from the sugary, carb-y selections tomorrow. I'm hosting Thanksgiving for my immediate family plus some extra guests tomorrow, so I'm cooking all of their requested favorite dishes. I'm also making myself a couple of keto side dishes (still tasty!) so I can stay on plan and enjoy the feast without a crash or feeling of disappointment. Hope you have a fabulous Thanksgiving!

I’m totally team “Do you on Thanksgiving “ as long as it doesn’t derail you although I am staying keto Thanksgiving! Everything will be keto Thanksgiving, I’m not saying I may not overindulge but if I do it will be keto! Thanks for sharing and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!

Wellness Wednesdays are my favorite. Sounds like you have a very solid, well thought out plan. I'm planning on having as much of the meat and veggies as I want and a few bites of the delicious pie my husband makes.

You said ‘no dairy’ … do you drink coffee? If so, do you put anything in it? I don’t like sweetener, but do like creamer. I think it’s probably too fattening for weight loss.

I’ll be honest, I don’t know how I’ll react to eating foods I haven’t had in so long.
I’m pretty sure I won’t over eat but I don’t know if these foods will be a trigger.
I know I have to make a decision on how to handle tomorrow.

Great chat! I’m definitely a moderator. I was actually going back and forth about what I was going to do tomorrow because no one else in my family is keto. I finally decided to make my own keto foods and bring it with me. I feel really good about it. However, I must say that I was just in Chicago on vacation and I ate ALL OF THE FOODS, so that probably helped me solidify my decision.

Enjoy your feast with your beautiful family 💙

Good information. Not sure I’ll ever be out of the woods as far as one snack sending me down the slippery slope, but that’s ok. The company is more important than the food, even if everybody thinks I’m a nut.

I’m really loving your wellness Wednesdays. I haven’t jumped into doing lean days yet along with my mostly keto diet and fasting, but you’ve convinced me to dive in. I’ve been stuck for about a year and would like to loose 20 more pounds. (Have lost 80 pounds so far) You are an inspiration and I really appreciate your view on food and wellness.

Love your words of wisdom. It inspires me to stay on track. I totally agree with you on the Wheat. I feel SO much better not eating wheat, and with your egg load bread who needs it! I prefer meat heavy Ketovore, but eating sweet things made of alternative sweeteners doesn't make me want to eat sugar. I would prefer to go Carnavore, but the only way I can keep my Mother on Keto is making Keto treats, like Cookies and Cheesecake Chaffles. I'm making a Keto Cheesecake for Thanksgiving, and maybe a Pumpkin roll. Cheesecake I can make no problem, Pumpkin roll I never tried to make before.
