I get my eggs to boil, turn off the heat and cover for about 10 mins. I drain the water off, put the lid back and and slide the pot around, the eggs practically peel themselves. I never ice mine, I feel like cold eggs are harder to peel.

Noooo! Don't wash mushrooms with water! They turn slimey. You just Use a soft brush to clean them or a paper towel. At least thats how everyone i know and my family does it.

I cook my eggs the same way on the stovetop and also let them sit in cold ice water for a while. When I peel them, I run them under cold water while I'm peeling. I also start peeling from the "flatter" end of the egg because that's where there's a bigger gap between the egg and the shell, it helps get things started, and since I'm running them under cold water while I peel it helps loosen the shell from the egg. Hopefully that makes sense? lol

The recycling is definitely something I wonder about watching American Youtubers. I live in Belgium and we recycle everything. πŸ˜…. Paper, cardboard, plastic, glass, compost, …We have like 8 different bins πŸ˜…. Bit crazy sometimes but oh well πŸ˜…

I learned from an old episode of America's Test Kitchen to steam my "Boiled" eggs on the stove, in a steamer basket set in a pan with water like you would steam veggies. I think the recipe called for 12 minutes maybe, but at my altitude its about 14 minutes to cook large eggs. Then cool like you already do. Like with the instant pot, it is the steaming that makes the eggs easy to peel. But also, like the instant pot it is easy to overcook them so experiment with just a few eggs first. Even though the method is similar, I find it easier to steam eggs on the stove than dragging our the instant pot.

I try to keep at least two containers of eggs. I use one for every day things, but keep one for hard boiled that aren't as fresh. Not too long, but the eggs that are a bit older are much easier to peel

Nice job on the eggs. I only keep them in the water after they’ve come to a boil for 10 to 11 minutes and then right into the ice bath. Perfect yolks, slightly jammy sometimes but that’s a good thing. Also, egg peeling is horrible because our eggs are so much fresher these days!

Thank you for sharing Jen- you’re always motivating! You made me smile as I was watching you doing all this prep and you commented that ur kids would still say β€œ there’s no food”…I’m sure all of us parents wish we had a dime for every time our kids say this🀣. I was thinking of you cuz I started a new job today after leaving a prior one after 11 yrs. Wasn’t happy and had been mulling a move for awhile so was searching since early summer. I recall watching ur videos about ur job switch and felt they gave me a boost of confidence. It was a great first day and feel like the future is much brighter.🌸. Have a great week!

Instapot is easiest way for me to do eggs. The "green" in eggs, I just remove the yolk, rinse the egg whites and keep the yolks separate from the whites.
Mushrooms I keep in paper towels inside a paper bag and change out paper towels every few days.

Hi Jen, great video. I was told not to wash mushrooms because they absorb water and it will make them go bad faster. I use my IP for hard boiling my eggs. I use the 555 method and they come out perfect every time. To peel I just roll them on the counter and put in water and the shell come right off. Does Aldi have a delivery service? Do they use Shipt or Instacart? You probably need a new ceiling ring on your IP. The rubber ring that fits around the inside of the lid. You can get them in a pack of 3 from Amazon or Target. Love your video as always..

When I first started cooking I remember asking you for a recipe for hard boiled eggs 🀣 and that stovetop method you used is the β€œrecipe” you gave me! You even made a note that older eggs peel easier. I have heard putting baking soda into the boiling water helps them peel easier but who knows. πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

I do fresh eggs in the instant pot, 5 mins, instant release, ice water. No green, and easy peel. I’ve used this method for years with no problem. I think the trick for me is the instant release.

When the yolk turns green it means the eggs were over cooked. The 555 method is too much for me – with large eggs I typically do 4 min w 4-5min natural release before putting into ice water. The IP makes farm fresh eggs easy to peel!

Jen I now wash all my produce in my salad spinner thanks to you. It never occurred to me to do it that way, it makes prep so much easier. I also use vinegar and I never taste the vinegar, I do a 2nd wash without vinegar.
Siggi's also has a plant based yogurt made with coconut milk and it's really good.

I cook my hard boiled eggs on the stove top and peel them under running water. The running water really makes the shells come off easily. I hope Murphy got a turkey stick at the end πŸ˜πŸ˜‚πŸΆ

Perfect timing! I was just thinking how I wanted to go to Aldi tomorrow. It’s not super close or convenient so I don’t go too often, it I’ve been seeing a lot of videos lately so now I really wanna go!

Do you have a trick for lettuce and cucumbers? We never eat them up in time before it all goes slimey. I tried the paper towel with the romaine lettuce and it did seem like it helped but not with the cucumbers. Thanks!

Aldi's brioche is exactly the same as the expensive brand and it's so cheap. Quite delicious. I only buy brioche buns at Aldi's. They also have brioche bagels. My son loves them. If you can get the croissant buns get them!!! Great for breakfast sandwiches. I was at Aldi today and they had scotch bonnet cheese and shredded asiago. The cheese is spicy! If you like spicy then the scotch bonnet cheese is for you..

Try Debbie Meyers green boxes for strawberries. They last a good week in those boxes.. I've been using them for years.

You shouldn't pre-wash mushrooms. They suck up all that moisture and then they can rot. Also they get super soft. I just go over them with a damp paper towel when I'm about to use them. Everyone in my house likes them and I always have them in the house.

I absolutely LOVE my little egg cooker, I think it’s Bella but I think it’s probably similar to the dash one. Never have a green ring or anything. 7 eggs and about 20-25 min total. Very inexpensive too.

It’s always a seek to discover mission boiling eggs and not having a time having to peel the shell. My husband loves boiled eggs so I make them often; made a batch this morning. I have tried baking soda in the water and I remember Alton Brown saying to use salt in the water I think. None of those have been fool proof so just earlier I was wondering if changing the temperature would help. I know they’re boiled eggs but I think I’m going to bring them to a simmer, turn off, let them sit and see if that helps. I have had the worse results with the healthiest egg options; regular eggs from Target were the easiest every time ironically. Something has to give. Lol.
